"One of the most thrilling writers working today. Miss him at your peril." - Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines

A near-future post-apocalyptic thriller series.

NEXT #1: AFTERBURN

Five years after a devastating solar storm wipes out civilization and spawns a strange race of mutants, Rachel Wheeler and her misfit family must choose whether to hide away or fight to join other survivors.

As their food supply dwindles inside their bunker, radiation from abandoned nuclear plants is altering the world around them. Not only are the mutants building their own cities and weapons, the remaining dregs of the U.S. military are massing for an attack. In this decaying environment, hostile new creatures crawl out from the crevices and up from the waterways to threaten them all.

But as a half-mutant, Rachel’s choice isn’t as simple as mere survival—the mutant way of life might be more promising than anything humans could hope to restore. And Rachel’s next decision could tear apart her family and the entire world.

Chaos and uncertainty remain in the aftermath of the Balisekt War. With the Lands of Order in such a fragile state, the tribal races turn to Tranquility, their holy land, for guidance and stability. However, war has left the Temple more shaken than it appears. Silvermist, the great spiritual leader, has dispatched her forces into the territories in search of two fugitives, Sunrise and Firefly, who fled during the battle. She will not explain their crimes to anyone, breeding mistrust and hostility between the tribes and the Temple, but she cannot afford to let the truth be known. For Firefly has made a discovery that could bring the holy order crashing down. Many changes are coming in the Lady’s forest, and the seeds of revolution are being sown.

Being thirteen is hard. It’s even harder when your father can’t stand the light of day, your mother has been dragged away by the government, and you’re afraid you’ll turn into a freak just like them when you get old.

Elena Moreno doesn’t want to know if she carries the dreaded R-factor in her blood, but she doesn’t have a choice. Eighth-graders are required by law to take the test that will reveal her fate. Elena’s friends worry about crushes and slumber parties and getting good grades in History. Elena worries about facing the Test.

She thinks going to school the day of the Test is the bravest thing she’ll ever do, but she’s wrong. She already knows monsters are real. Today she’ll learn what happens when they attack.
About the Author:
I have been creating imaginary worlds since childhood, but the real world fascinates me too. Bugs, plants, computers, and chemistry all rank high on my list of life interests. Professional development has included classroom teaching, animal training, aquaculture, horticulture, retail management, inventory operations, and customer service. Personal development is ongoing. Cats are involved.

I live in the Midwest, and I currently work in a library, which is just as exciting as it sounds. When the weather is fine, I can be found in my garden instead of the office, and at least once a year I disappear into the woods for a week to disconnect from the modern world.

Hearing from my readers make me a happy author. You can follow my tremendously entertaining blog.
